The Georgia Lung Cancer Working Group held a meeting on April 22, 2008, sponsored by Sanofi-Aventis. The purpose of the Lung Cancer Working Group is offer easy access to state-of-the-art comprehensive care, using education, prevention, and cutting edge clinical research to expand the treatment options for all lung cancer patients.Over 20 participants engaged in discussion regarding strategic methods to expand lung cancer clinical trials across Georgia. The Lung Cancer Working Group consists of a multidisciplinary group, including academia and community practices, thoracic surgery, radiation oncology, biostatisticians, and epidemiologists. The meeting consisted of presentations from Rodolfo E. Bordoni, MD, Daniel Miller, MD, Suresh S. Ramalingam, MD and Nancy M. Paris, MS. Topics included the following:
- Overview of Lung Cancer Research in Georgia
- Phase II, open-label, tissue marker allocation of pemetrexed/carboplatin, gemcitabine/carboplatin or erlotinib in the Treatment of Advanced NSCLC
- Georgia Lung Cancer Surgery Improvement Project (GALCSIP)
- A Randomized Phase II Trial of PF-00299804 versus Erlotnib for the Treatment of Advanced Non-small Cell Lung Cancer after Failure of at Least One Prior Chemotheraphy Regimen
