Donald Gallup, MD

Dr. Gallup is currently the Principal Investigator of the Georgia CORE Gynecologic Oncology Consortium as well as the professor and chair of the Mercer University School of Medicine. Dr. Gallup received his medical degree from Emory University and completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Naval Hospital, San Diego, CA. Dr. Gallup also conducted a fellowship in gynecologic oncology at the University of Michigan. He served as Director of Gynecologic Oncology at the Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, VA for nine years while educating as an associate professor at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, VA. After leaving the Navy, he spent 12 years as a Professor at the Medical College of Georgia. In 1996, he joined Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, GA as a Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Mercer University School of Medicine (Savannah).

Dr. Gallup has held numerous offices in several organizations throughout the country. He is past president of the Society of Gynecologic Surgeons and the past vice president of the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists. He is also the immediate past president of the South Atlantic Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He has served as chair or co-chair of the Quality of Life Committee of GOG for a period of 13 years.
